COMPARE MOISSANITE
TO RUSSIAN BRILLIANTS®
When comparing Russian Brilliants® to Moissanite, the biggest difference is in the appearance. Scientists have taken a page from Mother Nature’s achievement by creating Russian Brilliants®, a diamond simulant designed to replicate a gem-quality diamond. Moissanite is usually identifiable because of its silicon carbide content. In the manufacturing process, Moissanite becomes doubly refractive, producing a positive (brilliant) illusion in sunlight and a negative one (loss of luster) when exposed to indoor lighting conditions. These personality swings are greater than those seen in natural diamonds or Russian Brilliants®.
Russian Brilliants® produce no “rainbow effect” and have exceptional fire and brilliance, giving them many of the same characteristics and optical properties of a natural diamond. Some find Moissanite beautiful, while others see the double-refraction a characteristic that makes the stone undesirable
Originally developed for use in the Russian satellite space optics program, Russian Brilliants® are hand-cut to ideal proportions and come in all shapes and sizes. Hadar offers ideal cut, round Russian Brilliants® / Hearts & Arrows, "the highest rated ideal cut round diamond". Unlike hand-cut diamonds or Russian Brilliants®, Moissanite is machine-cut. (no Hearts & Arrows)The company has also perfected the only hand facetted ideal cut princess diamond simulant. All Russian Brilliants® can be hand-cut to your specifications. This is often done for people wanting to duplicate rings / “travel jewelry”. Antique, mine-cut, old Cartier style cut and European-cut stones are available. All jewelry is set with D - E (white colorless stones) unless colored simulated diamond or colored stone is specified..
Moissanite is manufactured in the U.S. The overhead is much higher than in other countries. This is main factor that makes Moissanite more expensive than all other diamond simulants. Moissanite stones have a faint yellow hue that becomes more prominent as the size increases. Hadar has a selection of Moissanite, including color enhanced stones in canary yellow and pink in 2mm – 10mm sizes. Hadar sells moissanite on a “call” basis. Russian Brilliants® are also available in a variety of colors, as well as an array of laboratory grown colored stones. To order Moissanite or any of Hadar’s color enhanced stones, please call 800-322-0995

Russian Brilliants® can be personally, heat laser-inscribed, similar to a diamond. The inscription can be seen under 10X magnification. The “heat” of the laser will not affect the integrity of the stone and is guaranteed not to encounter internal problems that cause a cloudy or foggy appearance.
Many agree Moissanite is beautiful. It offers flash and sparkle, particularly when you’re outdoors. However, if you are looking for a gemstone that comes closest to a natural diamond, Moissanite is probably not the best choice. If you’re looking to replicate the look of a diamond, the number one choice is Russian Brilliants®. Some jewelers have difficulty distinguishing between Russian Brilliants® and natural diamonds. The eye appeal is equivalent to the world's finest gem-quality, flawless diamonds. Beautifully hand-cut, Russian Brilliants® are extremely popular with many professionals in the jewelry trade. They have become convincingly the most natural looking diamond simulant available.
