COMPARE MOISSANITE TO RUSSIAN BRILLIANTS®
RUSSIAN BRILLIANTS®
Russian scientists have taken a page from Mother Nature’s achievement by creating Russian Brilliants®, a diamond simulant designed to replicate a gem-quality diamond. Originally developed for use in the Russian satellite space optics program, these diamond simulants are hand-cut to ideal proportions and come in all shapes and sizes. Hadar offers ideal cut, round Russian Brilliants® / Hearts & Arrows, "the highest rated ideal cut round diamond". When using a special scope, hearts can be seen from the top, while arrows appear at the bottom. The company has also perfected the only hand facetted ideal cut princess diamond simulant. All Russian Brilliants® can be hand-cut to your specifications. This is often done for people wanting to duplicate rings / “travel jewelry”. Antique, mine-cut and European-cut stones are available. All jewelry is set with D - E (white colorless stones).

Russian Brilliants® have exceptional fire and brilliance, giving them many of the same characteristics and optical properties of a natural diamond. Russian Brilliants® are very durable. Similar to a diamond, Russian Brilliants® can be personally, heat laser-inscribed. The inscription can be seen under 10X magnification. The “heat” of the laser will not affect the integrity of the stone. Also, dissimilar to other diamond simulants, Russian Brilliants® produce no “rainbow effect,” and are guaranteed not to encounter internal problems that cause a cloudy or foggy appearance.
Some jewelers have difficulty distinguishing between Russian Brilliants® and natural diamonds. The eye appeal is equivalent to the world's finest gem-quality, flawless diamonds. Beautifully hand-cut, Russian Brilliants® are extremely popular with many professionals in the jewelry trade. They have become convincingly the most natural looking diamond simulant available.
MOISSANITE
Moissanite resembles a diamond but with a few noticeable exceptions. The stone has a faint yellow hue that becomes more prominent as the size increases. Upon close examination, Moissanite is usually identifiable because of its silicon carbide content. In the manufacturing process, Moissanite becomes doubly refractive, producing a positive (brilliant) illusion in sunlight and a negative one (loss of luster) when exposed to indoor lighting conditions. These personality swings are greater than those seen in a natural diamond..
Some find moissanite beautiful, while others see the double-refraction and color as a characteristic that makes the stone appear undesirable. Unlike a hand-cut diamond or Russian Brilliants®, Moissanite is machine-cut. Being manufactured in the U.S. where overhead is much higher than other countries makes the cost of this stone more expensive than all other diamond simulants.
